Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?
As the founder of Hortman Clinics, I oversee the overall vision and operations of our practice, which specialises in transforming beauty, wellness, and health with tailored cosmetic treatments for a patient-centered experience. A typical day involves a mix of strategic planning, meeting with our team, consulting with patients, and staying updated on the latest industry innovations. I also dedicate time to mentorship and community outreach to ensure we’re delivering exceptional care and maintaining our commitment to excellence.

Did you always know that working in the industry you represent was what you wanted to do? How did you decide on it?
No, I didn’t always know. My journey was quite organic and I became increasingly passionate about helping people feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. That led me to specialise in this industry, and I realised I could make a real difference by combining my skills and interests here.

What first got you interested in the industry you work in?
What sparked my interest was witnessing the positive impact that aesthetic treatments and skincare can have on someone’s self-esteem. I saw how the right approach could truly transform lives, and that inspired me to create a space where clients feel cared for and empowered.

What obstacles did you have to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles was breaking into a competitive industry and establishing credibility. There were also challenges related to building a team, securing funding, and navigating regulatory requirements. Perseverance, continuous learning, and a clear vision helped me overcome these hurdles.

What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the industry you represent? What do you wish you had known?
My advice is to be passionate and persistent. The industry is dynamic and evolving, so staying curious and committed to ongoing education is key. I wish I had known earlier the importance of building a strong network and seeking mentorship—these relationships can provide invaluable guidance and support.

What do you do to unwind after work?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, practicing yoga, and traveling whenever I can. Taking time to disconnect and recharge is essential for maintaining the energy and focus needed to lead and grow my business.
