Flow to Conduct Flow Talk Series Edition for Emirati Women’s Day
With Emirati Women’s Day (August 28) just around the corner, a special edition of the popular Flow Talk Series will feature a high-profile power panel of four Emirati female visionaries smashing glass ceilings by excelling in typically male-dominated industries. Championed by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Emirati Women’s Day recognises the contribution and ongoing role UAE national women have played in the sustainable development of their country.
Thanks to these pioneers and trendsetters, the concept of women’s empowerment in the UAE is no longer a dream, it is a reality. In what promises to be one of the most inspirational Flow Talk Series editions to date, the free-to-attend and open-to-all session at Flow, Dubai’s favourite healthy eating hub in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, will celebrate the diverse contribution Emirati women have made in various fields – from sport to industry.
Mediated by Amna Al Haddad, the UAE’s champion weightlifter and motivational speaker, panellists will share their personal stories and experiences of success, which will be followed by an open-to-the-floor Q&A. Confirmed speakers include:
Amnah Al Bahar: The first of two Emirati CrossFit athletes to compete at the 2018 CrossFit Games in Madrid, Amnah has competed in dozens of fitness competitions, including the Dubai Fitness Championships and the Arab Olympic Rowing Championships. Amnah also holds the title of the ‘Fittest Emirati 2017’.
Sara Al Madani: The youngest member of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sara was personally selected for the post by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and a member of the federal Supreme Council of the UAE. Renowned for her savvy business mind, Sara runs her own fashion label, Rouge Couture, Emirati fusion restaurant, Shabarbush, and participates in various global events and panel talks hosted by the UN.
Nouf Al Afifi: One of the first and only Emirati air-traffic controllers, Nouf is a shining example of a woman working in a field that’s somewhat behind the times when it comes to gender equality. Often described as one of the most stressful jobs in aviation, Nouf also boasts a pilot license from the Emirates Flying School.
Aisha Alkhaja: Founder and creative director of Little Wren, an online boutique designed for the modern family, the Emirati ‘Momtrepreneur’ launched her business after witnessing a gap in the market for a family-focused e-commerce brand. Hugely popular in both the UK and the UAE, this e-commerce business is a true female success story.
Flow’s Emirati Women’s Day Talk Series will take place from 6-7pm on Tuesday 28th March 2018 at Flow, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.
