Suplyd Secures $2M for Egypt’s Restaurant Supply Chain
Cairo-based startup Suplyd has successfully closed a $2 million pre-Series A funding round, marking a significant milestone in its journey to revolutionize Egypt’s $10 billion HORECA (Hotel, Restaurant, Cafe) supply chain. This investment will fuel the expansion of its digital procurement platform and accelerate its ambition to build a comprehensive, full-stack infrastructure for the nation’s restaurants.
The funding round was spearheaded by prominent investors 4DX Ventures, Camel Ventures, and Plus VC, with additional participation from Seedstars and existing investors. Launched in 2022 by Gohar Said, Suplyd emerged to tackle persistent challenges plaguing the restaurant sector: inconsistent suppliers, unpredictable deliveries, and a glaring lack of transparency. Its innovative platform directly connects restaurants with a robust network of suppliers, streamlining daily procurement operations and injecting much-needed efficiency.
Since its $1.6 million pre-seed round, Suplyd has demonstrated remarkable growth, expanding its reach by nearly 20 times. The platform now proudly serves over 5,000 restaurants across Egypt, a testament to its impactful solution.
Gohar Said, Founder and CEO of Suplyd, reflected on the company’s journey and future aspirations: “Over the past four years, we’ve built Suplyd into a critical part of Egypt’s restaurant ecosystem. That progress comes with greater responsibility, and even greater ambition. What started as a bold idea is now powering thousands of restaurants every day. We didn’t just witness the industry’s digital transformation. We helped lead it. And we’re just getting started.”
The newly acquired capital will be strategically deployed to deepen Suplyd’s presence across Egypt and introduce new service verticals designed to further enhance restaurant operations. The team is actively developing advanced tools aimed at optimizing backend processes for its growing clientele.
Suplyd’s platform offers restaurants a centralized dashboard for ordering everything from fresh ingredients to essential kitchen supplies. Key features include real-time analytics, robust inventory management, and precise delivery tracking, all contributing to reduced waste and significant cost savings for operators.
Investors express strong confidence in Suplyd’s unique model and its potential for widespread impact. Peter Orth, Partner at 4DX Ventures, commented on their decision: “Suplyd’s digital procurement platform serves the long tail of restaurants that are often overlooked. Their early traction, strong supplier relationships, and diversified revenue streams reinforced our conviction.”
Hasan Haider, Founder and Managing Partner at Plus VC, added: “Suplyd has become a key enabler in the digital transformation of Egypt’s F&B sector. Their strong traction over the past four years reflects the team’s deep market insight and operational excellence.”
