From Market Research to Wellness Entrepreneur: Imane Belhabes’ Journey with WellnessWonderz

Imane Belhabes, the Founder of WellnessWonderz, says wellness is a personal journey, and building a business in this space means constantly evolving, just like your audience

Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?
I’m the founder of WellnessWonderz, a wellness subscription brand created to make it easier for busy professionals to stay motivated and prioritise their health. My typical day is a blend of strategy, creativity, and connection. I spend a lot of time speaking with partners, testing new products, reviewing content ideas, and refining the customer experience. It’s hands-on and ever-evolving, which I love.

Did you always know that working in the industry you represent was what you wanted to do? How did you decide on it?
Not at all, my background is in market research. I spent over 15 years analysing consumer behaviour and helping brands understand their audience. But after a personal transformation through fitness and wellness, I realised how many people like me were overwhelmed by the options and time-strapped to research what works. That’s what sparked the idea for WellnessWonderz. I wanted to create something I wish had existed when I started my own wellness journey.

What first got you interested in the industry you work in?
I had a complicated relationship with my body and fitness for years. Living in Dubai and navigating a demanding job made things even harder. But about four years ago, I met a coach who helped me reframe how I approached fitness, not as punishment or a path to weight loss, but as something empowering and life-enhancing. That mindset shift changed everything, and I wanted to help others feel the same way.

What obstacles did you have to overcome?
Honestly, self-doubt was a big one. Moving from the corporate world to launching a brand felt risky, and there’s always that inner voice asking, “Are you really ready for this?” There was also a steep learning curve, from logistics and product curation to marketing and e-commerce. But I reminded myself that imperfect action is still progress.

What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the industry you represent? What do you wish you had known?
Don’t wait until you feel “ready.” No one ever truly is. Wellness is a personal journey, and building a business in this space means constantly evolving, just like your audience. I wish I had known that vulnerability can be a strength. Sharing your story, your why, and even your missteps can build the strongest connections.

What do you do to unwind after work?
I love a good solo walk with my playlist on. Sometimes I’ll light a candle, brew some tea, and dive into a wellness podcast or spend some time with my husband watching some of our favourite shows. But my favourite way to unwind is low-effort movement, so a gentle yoga flow, stretching, or just dancing around the house.
